Welcome

Welcome to Jonathan Rea Counseling. As a Couples Counselor and Addiction Specialist, Jonathan Rea Counseling provides a safe and supportive space for individuals and couples to heal and grow. With a trauma-focused lens, we are dedicated to helping our clients navigate through their challenges and find a path towards healing and transformation. Our goal is to empower our clients to create positive changes in their lives and relationships. Explore our website to learn more about our services and how we can support you on your journey.

Are you experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety; addiction; or the residual effects of trauma? I believe that you, as the client, are the expert of your own story. I am here to provide you with a unique personalized approach to psychotherapy that is goal-oriented; and focuses on your strengths and your potential.

If you are someone who experienced relational trauma as a child, you may be experiencing difficulty navigating relationships as an adult. Through a therapeutic relationship, you will find a stepping stone from which to develop a more meaningful way of being in the world. You will experience a transformation with the therapeutic techniques that we will use in the therapy room. Through a process-oriented approach, you will gain the ability to process residual trauma that has been stored in your body for so long; and free yourself from that baggage. Through therapy, your brain can rewire itself and develop new neural pathways.

This is your therapeutic journey. My role is only to facilitate your encounter with your authentic self. I know how difficult it may be to take that first step. Please contact me for a complimentary 15-minute initial phone consultation so we can learn more about each other and decide if we are a good fit.

About Jonathan Rea

I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas in 2007. I spent the following ten years working with adolescents who had experienced traumatic relational wounds by their caregivers. I then earned my Master of Science degree from the University of St. Thomas specializing in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2019. Throughout my graduate studies, I facilitated groups at an Intensive Outpatient Program for individuals who were given a dual diagnosis of a mood or personality disorder and a substance use disorder..

I am currently a PhD student and my research interests include formerly incarcerated populations, addiction, and the LGBT community.
